Lettering and Calligraphy Hype

Ever since my collaboration with the Love Type team (Abbey Sy, Steffi and Den Labordo), I’ve been fascinated with lettering. I tried so hard to learn and practice it, but discovered that their type of lettering is just not for me. Then I tried calligraphy (since I collaborated with Alexis Ventura of Ink Scribbler too), but it wasn’t for me either.

But one day, I discovered brush pens! Hah! I finally found something that I loved. When I went to Taiwan, I hoarded as much brush pens as I could. I even asked someone months later to buy more colors for me! Haha!

It doesn’t mean lettering and calligraphy is out of the picture though; it won’t go anywhere, the hype is still on! We have so many people who want to join the pool of letterers, calligraphers, or whatever we call them. Creating something beautiful and inspiring is something worth appreciating, no matter how mainstream it is. If you love it, do it! If it makes you happy, why not? (as long as you don’t sin against God, that is, HEHE)

That’s why I’m so blessed to collaborate with yet another awesome calligrapher and letterer!
Ella Lama‘s one of my Blog:Inspired workshop sponsors. She sent us some of her cute products and I tell you, I admired her work since then! Good thing she was willing to collaborate with me for Share Movement!IMG_7786JP

She introduced me to Geli Balcruz (her Lettering and Calligraphy 101 partner), who happens to be one of Share Movement’s contributors too!

  1. Wow, you’re a girl! Sorry, I just assumed that you’re a boy because of your name, though I’ve had girl classmates before named Jam. I don’t know why I just assumed that. Anyway, Sharemovement.net, which I discovered through Katha magazine. I’ve been so passionate about arts and crafts, calligraphy and film photography for quite a long time now and I’m really glad I found your blog and also the movement’s. It’s so inspiring to see a lot of people collaborating for the sake of others and of art. I’ve never joined any workshops before, so I had to teach myself all that I know right now. I also tried brush calligraphy and loved it (though I only got to buy those available locally and also the cheapest ones. I’m really hoping to be able to join this movement or probably join their workshops! Keep inspiring people through art! :)

    • Aww it’s okay. Thanks for dropping by and for your kind words. I feel encouraged! I hope to see you on one of our workshop soon! God bless you Mars! :)
